Guest Master - Wu Wen'an

Lighting Designer, Assistant Professor of Taipei Arts University

He used to be a dancer and choreographer and was passionate about dance creation. In 2000, he resolutely withdrew from the stage and continued his dance life with light. The dance lights he designed are poetic and blend in with the dancer's breathing and body language.

The profound understanding of dance enabled him to enjoy the light of dance design and was appreciated and appreciated by many choreographers. He had won the Hong Kong Dance Year Award for three consecutive years and was awarded the Hong Kong Dance Year Award “Outstanding Lighting Design” ( Xing Liang’s work “Six Degree, 2011).

Wu Wen'an was born in Malaysia and is a member of Hong Kong Nanqun Dance Group. He has joined the Hong Kong Dance Company, Cloud Gate Dance Theatre and a professional dancer of the Urban Contemporary Dance Company. In 2000, he entered the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts to study lighting design. In 2001, he served as the Hong Kong CCDC Dance Center as a technical coordinator. Since 2005, he has applied for the lighting design of Hong Kong City Contemporary Dance Company and Guangdong Modern Dance Company.

This summer camp has also added an appreciation course. Dr. Tong Yu, a professor from South China Normal University, will lead the participants to appreciate the modern Chinese dance works, including the contents of the works in Guangdong. This piece of land has an important influence on the development of modern Chinese dance. What kind of work was born, what can we see from it, do you want to discuss it together?

He is a Ph.D. student in art at Peking University. He is currently the deputy director, professor and master tutor of the Institute of Music and Dance at the Conservatory of Music of South China Normal University. Member of the Chinese Dancers Association, member of the Theoretical Review Committee of the Chinese Dancers Association, Distinguished Research Fellow of the China Contemporary Dance Drama Research Center of the Nanjing Academy of Art, and Distinguished Research Fellow of the National Dance Culture Research Base of the Beijing Dance Academy.

He has published and edited "The History of Chinese Dance", "The Value of Dance Art", "Modernity and Popularization: Research on the Development of Modern and Contemporary Chinese Dance", "Study on the Development of Dance in the Period of the Republic of China from 1912 to 1949"; in the National Core Journal "Journal of Beijing Dance Academy" Nearly forty academic papers were published in the journals such as “Art Review”, “National Art Research” and “Dance”, and the main articles of the Chinese Art Federation’s “China Art Development Report” dance articles in 2017 and 2018.
